My Favorite Products and how I use them

Keep Visiting For New and Innovative Hair Care Tips. Until Next Time, Happy Hair Growing!!!

MY FAVORITE PRODUCTS

For my Co-Washes

I love to prepare my apple cider vinegar rinse, pour it over my dry hair focusing on my scalp and then apply either my vo5  moisture milks or silky experience, cover with a plastic cap for about an hour then rinse dry and style.  Leaves my hair so soft and silky.

 Hair Strengthening

When i need to strengthen my hair while i  use my motions CPR conditioner at times or my ORS replenishing conditioner ( both light protein treatments) I love to mix molasses into my suave  tropical coconut conditioner and apply to my dry hair.  Depending on how much strengthening my hair needs i will estimate the molasses to  conditioner ratio.
For more strength i use more molasses than conditioner.
For medium strength i use more conditioner than molasses.
For light strength i use alot of conditioner with just a teaspoon of molasses.

Oils
For my scalp i love to apply my  megagrow scalp oil. This keeps my scalp clean and promotes growth.
When i am out of my mega grow oil, i use pure castor oil on my scalp, this cleans my scalp, promotes growth and thickens my hair.
(When i need to stimulate growth i add two drops of peppermint essential oil this mixture)

Moisturize and Seal
I love to moisturize  with my scurl no drip moisturizer activator. If I  cant get the old formula at by bss, i choose the wave noveau moisturising finishing lotion instead.
I love to seal in my moisturizer with my  extra virgin coconut oil or my Wonder 8 miracle oil.

 Curl Retention
When i want to keep my curls i set my hair with my Lotta body olive oil foam setting lotion. produces nice soft curls.

 Relaxers

I love using my PCJ lie relaxer. I tried ORS olive oil relaxer
( no-lye)
regular strength for my last relaxer and loved it too, so i guess now i have two favorite relaxers.

Tips to Start your hair Journey in 2014 (Part 2)

 Try a  leave-in conditioner.

A good  leave in conditioner will moisturize, detangle and protect the hair especially when you apply heat to your hair. Leave-in conditioners will also minimize breakage and protect the hair from the elements.

                                      Read the Labels!!!!

Don’t use products containing petrolatum and mineral oil to moisturize your hair. Products containing these ingredients will only coat the hair and not penetrate the hair strand. Therefore, the hair will not be moisturized. Alcohol based products as these will be drying to your hair making it , brittle and prone to breakage i.e. hair spray, gels, some  mousses and spritz.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize

Please note DRY HAIR WILL BREAK OFF . Therefore you need to keep your hair moisturized.  It is your job to apply moisture to your hair every day in small amounts. Hair that is hard, brittle and dry needs moisture. Moisturizing increases elasticity and decreases breakage. When moisturizing the hair, focus on the hair ends. If your ends are dry, they will eventually split and break. Whether or not your hair is damaged, or excessively dry it needs to be moistorised, this prevents the likelyhood of it ever getting dry and brittle. Use your moisturizer spearlingly don't satturate yout hair with it. A little goes a long way. Seal in that moisture with a light oil.

DO NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR WHEN IT IS WET.
Wet hair is very fragile so handle with care, detangle in sections with a wide tooth comb and be patient.

                        IF YOUR HAIR IS RELAXED.....

Don't overprocess your hair. If you relax your hair BEFORE every 8 weeks, you are overprocessing your hair.  8 to 10 weeks IS BEST. If you can go a little longer ( stretch your relaxer) without causing breakage, go for it. Overprocessing your hair will definitely result in damage and will ultimately lead to breakage.

(Caution: You may disagree with the following statement) Say away from no lye relaxers (box kits). These relaxers are promoted as being less damaging yet far from the truth. Ca hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, guanidine hydroxide (calcium hydroxide with guanidine carbonate) and lithium hydroxide will dry out the hair over time and leave mineral deposits on the hair making it difficult to moisturize resulting in constant dryness, split ends and dull looking hair. Using lye relaxers are highly recommended. Lye relaxers will allow the cuticle to lay flat resulting in shinier hair without the mineral deposits. If you have to relax with a no lye relaxer you MUST use a chelating shampoo after neutralizing. A chelating shampoo contains chelates which will attach themselves to the mineral deposits left on the hair and remove them.
