Excellent hair growth technique

Oiling

We often apply oil to our scalp after we have shampooed and condition the hair. This is not the concept of the technique of oiling.

The oiling technique is widely used by persons of Indian decent to promote and maintain long hair. It involves applying light oil to the scalp and length of the hair prior to washing.

The oil forms a barrier and makes the stripping power of the shampoo less effective on the hair. Non the less the shampoo will be effective in removing buildup from the scalp.

Oiling is very effective in allowing the strands to retain its moisture thus the hair is left strong, soft and manageable. Many women of Indian decent with very long hair confess that oiling has significantly contributed to the length and health of the hair.

While genetics plays a factor in their hair type, without this technique maintaining the hair at very long lengths would be a challenge. The most popular oils used in this way are extra virgin coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil.

Keep blood flowing to the scalp

Scalp Massage

Massaging the scalp will result in increased blood flow to
the roots of the hair. This increased blood flow will fortify the roots of the hair with the necessary nutrients needed to promote healthy hair growth. Giving the scalp a good massage during the cleansing process is good not only to remove buildup from the hair but also to promote a healthy scalp.

Healthy hair grows from healthy scalp. The balls of the fingers should be used to execute the massage. Never use your finger nails to massage the scalp. Not only can finger nails cut the scalp but they can also rip the hair from the root as well as contribute to hair breakage.

Even though finger nails will not be used during the massage process they should be neatly cut and be smooth when fingers are being used to execute the massage. Failure to have nails cut smooth and uniformed will cause strands of hair to snag and break and this will promote split ends.
